15. The role of monasteries in strengthening royal and princely power - economic aspects

Allies or rivals? The participation of monasteries and rulers in the economic policy of Silesia in the Middle Ages.

Since Benedykt Zientara's classic monograph on Henry the Bearded, there has been a common belief that the ruler's foundation campaign was aimed at including the monasteries in the great development plan of Silesia. Is this thesis still relevant after years of research on the economic activity of monasteries in Silesia in the Middle Ages? I will try to answer this question in my speech.

27. Ways of manifesting secular and ecclesiastical power in medieval sources

Ways and forms of manifestation of power of duchesses and princesses from the Opole line.

The aim of the presentation is to show how the princesses and duchesses of Upper Silesia (descending from the original line of Opole rulers) manifested their power. The seals of the rulers, their titles in documents, but also their participation in foundation politics, which was also a way of manifesting power, will be used.
